The Liberal Democrats in Slough and the Thames Valley are campaigning ahead of this year's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) elections taking place on 2nd May.

Tim Bearder is standing for the Liberal Democrats and has three key priorities:

  • Increasing community police;
  • Tackling violence against women and girls;
  • Creating safer streets for everyone.

Speaking in Slough, Tim said, “In the recent PEEL report, by the police inspectorate, the Thames Valley Police Force has come under scrutiny for its ability to effectively respond to the public, protect vulnerable people, and investigate crime. These are some of the most basic tenets of quality policing and the Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner must take responsibility for failing to properly lead the force.

“I'm standing for Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner because people across Slough and the Thames Valley deserve better. We have a plan to put more money into community policing, protect the most vulnerable in society, and give people a local representative they can rely on to keep them safe.”

Chelsea Whyte, the Liberal Democrats Parliamentary Candidate for Slough said

“The Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner has taken Slough for granted for too long, much like the Labour-ran Council did. We are so pleased to have Tim standing in this election and giving people a credible alternative to the failing Conservative PCC. Smart voters are lending their vote to the Lib Dems in this election for the best chance of delivering the change we so desperately need. A vote for Labour in these elections will only let the Conservatives back in.”
