“Jen Simpson will make a brilliant hardworking councillor for Cippenham Green, which is next-door to my Cippenham Village ward”, explained Lib Dem councillor Frank O’Kelly.

Frank continued, “Jen is an extremely valuable member of my Cippenham Lib Dem Focus Team, and many of the issues we work on for residents go across the Cippenham wards.”

Jen Simpson agreed, saying “When Cippenham Village Lib Dem councillor Frank O’Kelly created the Stream Team of volunteers, I was pleased to join in.  We clear local streams and ponds, and do litter picks across parts of Cippenham, including in Cippenham Green.”

“As an active member of my local Cippenham community, I’m delighted to have been selected as the candidate for Cippenham Lib Dem Focus Team,” said Jen Simpson, following her selection as the candidate for the Cippenham Green by-election.

Continuing, Jen stated: “I was outraged when Slough’s Tory-run Council put up a massive, spiked fence around the car park used by FC Cippenham and others, with no consultation. This was so damaging to things I care about, including our local environment, access for all to exercise opportunities, and the safety of women and girls. Many across Cippenham were also so upset that 1,700 signed the petition I launched on behalf of Cippenham residents. The photo above shows some of the paper pages of the petition I handed in, and many more signed my petition online. Cllr Frank O’Kelly gave us full support and chaired meetings of residents.”

Jen Simpson also said, I believe its Time for a Change on Slough Council. The current Tory Administration is failing to provide the services Slough residents deserve, but also failing to deal with financial crises facing Slough Council. However, we certainly should not risk going back to Labour. Most people remember that under the previous Labour leader, Slough Council was declared ‘bankrupt’ in 2021 and put up Council Tax by 10% in 2023.”

Lib Dem Cllr Frank O’Kelly agreed. He explained: “Jen Simpson would not only be a hardworking councillor for Cippenham Green, but has already shown the commitment and skills to help tackle Slough’s problems. In 2023 Slough Council elected me to Chair the Audit Committee. Jen successfully applied to be a coopted (ie non-councillor) member.  We inherited a terrible situation from Labour: for years the accounts had not been fully audited. The Committee has overseen a clearance of the backlog. Jen has greatly helped.”
