“It’s time for a change in Slough, please help,” says Amjad Abbasi

"Slough's Labour councillors have 'bankrupt' the Council, and it's time for them to be replaced, including here in Elliman Ward," says Amjad Abbasi, a local Lib Dem.

Amjad (photographed in Elliman Ave, near to the site of his former takeaway business) made good progress towards defeating Labour in Elliman Ward in May 2022. He came a clear second last time, and only Amjad and the Lib Dems can beat Labour in Elliman Ward.

Because of the financial crisis the Labour councillors created, they now say they have to break their promises and make massive cuts in our vital local services this year, and for years to come. They are also selling off £600 million of our Council assets to pay for the debts they created.

According to Amjad, nearly everyone is saying, "It's time for a change in Slough."

Amjad says, "If you elect Lib Dem councillors in May we will aim to bring in new approaches and policies. We will try to ensure all councillors elected in May 2023 work together to form a joint administration to tackle the extreme crisis created by Slough's Labour councillors. We will also promote new ideas, including tackling crime and anti-social behaviour by working together. We must all oppose the 40% cuts in police funding for tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in Slough made by the Tory boss of Thames Valley Police (ie, the Police and Crime Commissioner) almost immediately after he was elected in 2021."

Finally, Amjad says, "Here you can read my local Focus newsletter to local residents: Happy New Year. It's time for a change in Slough.
