Let the people decide

'I've enjoyed talking to people in various parts of Slough about the crucial election on June 8th', said Tom McCann, Liberal Democrat candidate for Slough.

'My main leaflet is being delivered to every house in Slough. In it I set out my policies and promises on a range of issues. These include how, if elected to be Slough's MP, I'll use my previous experience in the building trade to promote ways of tackling Slough's housing crisis. I'll stand up to the Labour council when they refuse to listen to local people on issues such as traffic, and I'll oppose the Tories' plan to bring back fox hunting.'

'But as the campaign enters the final days, I want to send this special message to say why you should make your vote count by voting McCANN:

• This election is the most important of the three in which in I've been the Lib Dem candidate to become Slough's MP.
• For the long-term future of our country, and the vital health, education and social care services, I am standing for the only party that has honest plans to fund our public services and pensions and is campaigning against a damaging hard Brexit.
• The nation's leading independent experts stated that neither the Conservatives or Labour are being honest about their plans for taxation and expenditure.
• I work for a Berkshire healthcare charity and know how important the NHS and social care are to local residents. Therefore I'm so pleased that the Lib Dems are being honest and saying we would put a penny on income tax to ensure proper funding for our NHS and social care.
• By contrast, the Tories are planning to axe the 'Triple Lock' that guarantees reasonable pension increases, make unfair charges for social care, and snatch away infants' free school lunches. I will strongly oppose all these Tory plans.
• Lib Dems also say people should have the final say through a referendum on any Brexit deal.'
